Android Internal Storage
If contacts are saved in the internal storage of your Android phone, they will be stored specifically in the directory of /data/data/com. Android. providers. contacts/databases/contacts.
You can see your stored contacts at any point by logging into Gmail and choosing Contacts from the drop-down menu on the left. Alternatively, contacts.google.com will take you there too. If you ever choose to leave Android, you can easily make up a back-up by going to Contacts à à Manage Contacts à Export contacts.
Go to Settings > Apps > Contacts > Storage. Tap on Clear cache. Restart your phone and see if the issue is fixed. If the issue still continues, you can also clear the data of the app by tapping on Clear data.
Go to: More > Settings > Contacts to Display. Your settings should be set to All contacts or use Customized list and turn on all the options to enable more contacts to be visible from within the app.
See your contacts
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Contacts app .
- At the top left, tap Menu . See contacts by label: Choose a label from the list. See contacts for another account: Tap Down arrow. pick an account. See the contacts for all your accounts: Choose All contacts.
Restore contacts from backups
- Open your phone’s Settings app.
- Tap Google.
- Tap Set up & restore.
- Tap Restore contacts.
- If you have multiple Google Accounts, to choose which account’s contacts to restore, tap From account.
- Tap the phone with the contacts to copy.
Modern smartphones are usually only able to import/export contacts stored on the SIM card. The contact App from Android 4.0 on provides a feature which lets you import your contacts form SIM card to either Google contacts (which I highly recommend) or simply local phone contacts.
iPhone stores contacts in the location set by Settings → Contacts → Default Account. New contacts are stored on the internal storage of the device, and then synchronised with the account selected here. This can be iCloud if activated and selected. Contacts can be imported from the SIM, but not saved to the SIM.

See hidden contacts
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Hangouts app .
- Tap Menu Settings. your account name.
- Tap Hidden contacts.
- To see your hidden contacts again, tap Unhide.
